Biography

Akbar Cheraghi was a 35-year-old deaf and neurodivergent man on the autism spectrum who served as a volunteer cleaner for the Deaf Association. He was shot and killed by security forces in the Tohid neighborhood of Tehran on January 8, 2026. Reports indicate that due to his hearing impairment, he was unable to hear the gunfire or determine its direction to escape.

اکبر چراغی، جوان ۳۵ ساله ناشنوا و نورودایورجنت (طیف اتیسم)، نظافتچی داوطلب دفتر انجمن ناشنوایان بود. او در ۱۸ دی ۱۴۰۴ در محله توحید تهران بر اثر شلیک نیروهای امنیتی جان باخت. گفته می‌شود او به دلیل ناشنوایی متوجه صدای شلیک گلوله نشد و نتوانست جهت خطر را برای فرار تشخیص دهد.
